Abstract Percutaneous lumbar spine surgery has been an area of controversy for at least fifteen years. Review of the literature identified only one observational randomized controlled trial. The objective of this meta-analysis was to describe the effect of using a LSC after lumbar surgery on the length of time from disc insertion to the preoperative SC, the time to achieve surgical goals, and the risk of concomitant complications such as spinal cord compression. A random-effects model was used to estimate the *I* ^2^ statistic between the time from disc insertion to preoperative SC and the time to achieve surgical goals. The authors excluded studies with two or more criteria for inclusion. Twenty general practice physicians were enrolled in this meta-analysis. The reported incidence of concomitant complications was slightly reduced by using a lower percentage of patients receiving sacutomation, whereas incidence by other methods was not. They concluded that sacutomation for the treatment of preprosthetic LLL but with subsequent LSC was associated with a 10% risk reduction in a subsequent CTV with a follow-up period of 2 years, compared with a single approach without LSC. For patients having more than three LLL forms or with the use of a different methodology, sacutomation may be considered if that risk reduction outweighs the benefit of the LSP.
