Mauricio was born and brought up in Bruges, Belgium. After her parents, her family, and her siblings visited the Antwerp Belgium National Gallery, where she began to study graphic arts. After a period in Italy where she studied painting and metalwork, she studied sculpture and fine art at the Porta Virgili School of Contemporary Art in Bruges and the Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium. She studied at the Art Institute of Brussels where she studied sculpting at the School Kunstmuseum. She taught sculpture and textile arts at the University of Bruges, where she studied jewellery and performance art at the Art Institute of Brussels.
